Feast of Constance and her
Companions
Voci dell’Anima, or voices of the soul, is an early-music
ensemble whose mission is to stir the spirits of audiences and to play and sing
from the soul. Specializing in
music of the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries, Voci dell’Anima features
vocal soprano, cornetto, viola da gamba and violoncello, organ and
harpsichord. Their anima, or life
breath, comes from creative spirit, the renewable energy of air, and musical
inspiration. This
interdisciplinary program will feature music and poetry on themes of the Virgin
Mary, healing, and water, which will beautifully commemorate this celebration
of the life and ministry of the Martyrs of Memphis.

Ana Hernández
St. Mary’s welcomes composer, arranger, improviser, and performer of sacred music Ana Hernández to lead a two-day event in contemplative worship.
Friday, 7 p.m. SpiritSpace evening worship. Bring your voice to an evening of songs, chants, meditation, and chilled out beats. Join the singing, or just sit and let the music wash over you. If your well is dry, come and draw water with us. Everyone welcome!
Saturday, 10 a.m.—3 p.m. “All the Tunes You Can Eat.” (bring your own lunch or one will be provided for a nominal fee)
This workshop explores new ways to look at and use old tunes to enable them to speak to us now, and also serves as a survey of the newest music being published for use in the Episcopal Church. We’ll explore Music By Heart: Paperless Music for Evening Worship; Voices Found; Wonder, Love and Praise; Lift Every Voice and Sing, and The Hymnal 1982. This is an especially rewarding day-long workshop for congregations that are not living up to their potential in the “Make a joyful noise” department. The content of the workshop changes based on what’s new and beautiful, and on who shows up. Please contact Scott Elsholz at

Christmas at St. Mary’s
This year will mark the 24th annual Christmas at St. Mary’s concert from Rhodes College Department of Music. Begun by Tony Garner, this concert has become an important Memphis tradition as the holiday season gets under way. This year the Rhodes Singers and Women’s Choir will again be featured, and the Rhodes Chamber Singers will offer pieces, as will the Rhodes Orchestra and Brass ensemble. Music will be featured from all period styles, traditional and non-traditional music of the season, in a variety of languages. As the department has grown and expanded, this concert will reflect that growth, as more diversified music is being offered by more Rhodes ensembles. The organist is Debbie Smith, and the conductors are Mona Kreitner, Joseph Montelione, and William Skoog.
Concert is free and open to the public.
