New Beginnings: Inclusion, Love and Next Steps - A Retreat Offered by the Task Force on Ministry to the LGBT Community March 3, 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., St. Mary's Cathedral, 700 Poplar Avenue The Rev. Winnie Varghese, Priest in charge at St. Mark's in the Bowery, New York City, will be the keynote speaker and retreat facilitator. She will give an historical overview of the LGBT inclusion in The Episcopal Church from 1950 to the present. She will also talk about spiritual resources for next steps. Dr. Susan Appling, Chair of the diocesan Task Force on Ministry with the LGBT Community and a professor of physical therapy at The University of Tennessee College for the Health Sciences, will share her faith journey and talk about the work of the Task Force. There will be ample opportunity for conversation and discussion about goals and hopes for the year ahead. The retreat will conclude with Holy Eucharist.
