Outreach
Outreach to our community and the world are important to the Cathedral. Below are a few ways that we serve the greater needs of others.
Servant Ministry
Pop-Top feeding ministry: St. Mary's parishioners meet every Saturday morning to assemble "to go" meals made up of convenient, single-serve pop-top cans for about 200 homeless folks who show up on our doorstep. (Previously, Saturday breakfast was the only free meal not available via the city’s various missions.) Here is a list of a typical meal: Vienna sausages; pork & beans; crackers; fruit cups or applesauce; a sweet, such as Little Debbie’s, other cupcakes or granola bars; individual servings of soft drinks or fruit juice. The demand is great, and the food supply is running low, so please don't leave the grocery store without buying one of these items.
Haiti Ministry: Annual humanitarian trips and fundraising activities for our sister-parish in Haiti. (Part of the Haiti Partnership.) The Episcopal Church in Haiti is not only a part of the Episcopal Church USA, but it is also our largest diocese in membership. It is also the most heartbreakingly intense concentration of poverty in the Western Hemisphere

Downtown Elementary (10 N. 4th Street): Tutors/mentors, back-to-school-drive, Angel Tree (Christmas gifts). For information about becoming a tutor, contact Judy Bryant at 419-8490.
