Young people gather at 10 am in the Moody Wing for age-appropriate classes with devoted teachers. Nursery is always available from 9:30 am through the end of the 11 am Eucharist service. Children’s chapel participants gather in the rear of the nave at 11 am and process to the Chapel for liturgy, music, and formation. They return at the exchanging of the peace in preparation for communion.
Sunday School classes:
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Pre-K 3 - Sr. Kindergarten)
led by Terra Nwobilor & Julie Byrd Ashworth
The themes presented in the atrium are taken from the Bible and the liturgy (prayers and sacraments) as the fundamental sources for creating and sustaining Christian life at every developmental stage, and in particular, for illuminating and nourishing the child in his/her wonder and questions.
Kids of the Kingdom (1st grade-5th grade)
led by Vickie Baselski & Marsha Callow
This class is creatively designed to explore the stories of Scripture through the lectionary and engage the liturgical season through art, games, and snacks.
Faith Exploration (6th-8th grade) & (9th-12th grade)
led by Kenyetta Thompson Powell and Lay Leaders
Using components of the reform, a Spark House program, students gather for spiritual formation and reflection on liturgical seasons to cultivate into their day to day lives. Each Sunday is a lively, open, thoughtful discussion time to discuss pertinent current topics and how as Christians we approach them. Trips to coffee shops, breakfast joints, and other local venues with various volunteers and clergy are part of this Sunday time together.
