Budget & Stewardship Update

News from your Treasurer

The approved budget for 2023 anticipates $503,500 in total income ($350,000 in pledge income) and $560,414 in total expense. The shortfall will have to be drawn from our investments, which is not a sustainable option.

The finance committee met over several months to review every line in our budget and made every adjustment possible. To obtain a fully balanced budget it will be necessary to increase giving (preferred) or to cut programs or personnel (not preferred).

Pledge income for all of 2022 was $296,394. $350,000 for 2023 was a conservative estimate based on 2022. To date in 2023 we have received 48 pledge commitments with total giving of $186,391. We are still well short of our goal ($350,000) and of our ideal need to balance the budget ($400,000).

Your gift is vital to sustain St. Mary’s in the coming year and in the years ahead. If you have not yet made your pledge, please complete a pledge card found in the Sisters Chapel or contact your Treasurer (georgegc57@icloud.com).

Peace and blessings,

George Clarke, Jr.,
Treasurer
